Remember that movie which made Lucas Grabeel dye his hair black and took him to Japan for about a month or so? Remember? We blogged about it here.
Well, thanks to Jenna - we can put faces to the all-girl Oreska band that will be the center of the story (and it’s always good to see dark-haired Lucas ) and learn a bit more about this other movie that Peter wrote
The movie is scheduled to come out this summer. We’ll let you know if we find more info.

When I logged onto my email this morning, I was more than pleasently surprised to see that Lucas Grabeel had posted on his official site’s forum about what he’s been doing lately and that he was promoting his upcoming film, Milk, where he stars as Danny Nicoletta.
Milk, starring Sean Penn in the title role, follows the life and times of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America in 1977. The following year, both he and the city’s mayor, George Moscone, were shot to death by former city supervisor Dan White. The film also stars Speed Racer Emilie Hirsch, Spiderman’s James Franco, & Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights‘ Diego Luna as well as Josh Brolin who takes on the role as Dan White. The film is set to make it’s debut at the Venice Film Festival in September of this year. Us in the United States can get the opportunity to see the film November 26. (Read more…)

The first Wildcat I could see going up on stage and thanking “the Academy” has always been the often overlooked - Lucas Grabeel. I don’t know what it is and I don’t claim to be some sort of expert but if this short indie film he co-wrote, executive produced and starred in, is an indication - he is well on his way.

Lucas Grabeel has been one busy man lately…we know about that little movie he’s filming over at Salt Lake City, Utah (the title escapes me at the moment); we know he’s doing some great work with the National Organizations for Youth Safety as their spokesperson for the Act out Loud campaign; and he’s been busy promoting and going around different film festivals (or trying to anyway) for his films, The Adventures of Food Boy and Alice Upside Down.
He’s been so busy he missed the premiere of the movies at the Newport Beach Film Festival over the weekend (which we wrongly said was going to be in August - our apologies) and the HSM3 Start of production press conference because he got sick. Poor thing.
But this is not a sad post because we actually have something really amazing to share about Lucas and his film The Adventures of Food Boy (thanks to Tugba and Cold Sparks Film). So you want to hear the exciting news? The movie won “Best Family Film” at the Newport Beach Film Festival!! :woot:
So CONGRATULATIONS! to Lucas, Ryne and the rest of the cast and crew of the movie.
Next on the list of film festival for Food Boy is the Delray Beach Film Festival in Florida this weekend, where the movie willl be screening on Saturday, May 10th at 12:45pm. I don’t think Lucas will be able to attend this one as well. But maybe they’ll do another live chat with him like they did last weekend at the Newport Beach Film Festival.

yay?
So yesterday morning, our Lucas Grabeel woke up early to invite everyone to the Youth Traffic Safety Month event (that Marcie attended) at Salt Lake City Hall - and to talk about safe driving. One of his stops was Utah’s Fox 13’s morning news. Watch as the news anchors attempt (poorly) to get Lucas to talk about High School Musical 3
What’s with the cliffhanger question though? I think in the end Lucas just chose to ignore the “who dies” question. Wow. Was the male news anchor trying to be funny or was he really just being, uhm, idiotic?
and yes, he got ask the Wildcats’ “favorite” question…

It is great when something unexpected happens and today was that day for me! I had the privilege of not only attending this event (thanks, to Jill for the tip) but also meeting Lucas which included shaking his hand, getting my picture taken with him and him signing a picture for my kids! Needless to say, he was gracious, fun and just a nice guy. Wow! Of course, I came up with about 50 questions to ask him after the event including where did he get those shoes? I just didn’t expect to have this opportunity!!!
On the stairs of City Hall in Salt Lake, the mayor, Ralph Becker, proclaimed May to be Youth Traffic Safety Month. Lucas is the National Youth Traffic Safety Month spokesperson and attended the event. Lucas also was on several local news channels this morning talking about the event and the importance of this cause. The message for this month is very serious as May and the summer months bring an increase in teen driving activity with proms, graduation, parties, and summer jobs–and car accidents are the #1 killer for teens ages 16-19! An East High School student, 17-year-old Lauren Mulkey, was killed in 2007 when her car was hit by a teen driver who was text messaging while driving. So, please, to echo the words of Lauren’s mom, Linda who also spoke at the event, turn off your cell phones while driving! It can wait!
Hope you all enjoy the exclusive VABN pics and video! I also need to give special thanks to someone at Popstar! Magazine who took my picture with Lucas and also gave me the picture for him to sign! I hope to see her again in Salt Lake at more events!

It’s been almost a week since the latest Lucas Grabeel candids came out; but I still haven’t figured out why he was in LA while the other wildcats where in Salt Lake City. Anybody out there know why? Not knowing is bugging me *pout
By the way - Lucas will be answering questions (not sure where though) on Monday, May 5th on behalf of the National Organizations for Youth Safety and AllState Foundation’s Act out Loud campaign.
Also both The Adventures of Food Boy and Alice Upside Down will premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in August.

Ok, VABN visitors. Today you get two things from me. First, the preview for The Adventures of Food Boy starring Lucas Grabeel and featuring Ryne Sanborn and McCall Clark.
Next, you get to settle a fight my dearest Peggy and I are having. I swear on my life that at 0:33 the line “Is he throwing cold cuts” is our lovely Ryne. She’s say it’s not. She wants you all to prove me wrong, and if I am, I’ll accept it (while pouting;)), so let me know what you think:
