Brenda Song vs. Vanessa Hudgens for a ‘New Moon’
First, for those of us who haven’t read the bestselling “Twilight” series of books or haven’t been attracted to even finding out what the series is about; let us recap and enlighten, shall we?
“Twilight” is about Bella Swan who reluctantly moves to the small town of Forks, WA. There she meets Edward Cullen and his family of very pale “brothers” and “sisters.”
Now in this series of books and in the upcoming sequel to it – “New Moon” (set to start shooting in March 09), there is a new character named Leah. Leah Clearwater is a native american character who is also a werewolf. She is the daughter of Harry and Sue Clearwater and older sister to Seth.
And rumors have been flooding the internet on who is up for this coveted role and two particular names have stood out to us here. Brenda Song and Vanessa Hudgens.
So, let’s have it VABN girls and guys, if you were to cast either of these two girls, who would it be? Why? Let your voices be heard!

My God! How many “Disney haters” and / or “Twilight fans” appeared here. Honestly, I think it best not participate in “New Moon”, those “fans” are really disgusting, does not see the name of the site: “VANashBREnique”, not to mention that this is only a rumor.
I say Vanessa.
I think she deserves it the most. And it would be awesome if she got to play Leah. I just finished reading New Moon, and I think Vanessa would be perfect for the role.
I think both of them kinda look like Leah expecially in that pic of Vanessa but Brenda deserves it..She’s a better actress and Vanessa already has established a world wide reputation. I think they should have non famous people so people can be discovered and kids and teens everywhere will like her.
NONE! Zoomg, EWW!!!!!!!!! No freakin-way! Leah is much older than either of these two. Plus, Vanessa doesn’t seem to have the potential to do any movie BUT Pg-rated Disney-style films/tv shows.
Brenda would be awesome for NEW MOON!!!! And a movie that big and fantastic is good for her Diseney breakout. I love her, and she is SO talented and gorgeous.
Disney’s time and effort mostly goes into Brenda, Suite Life, Miley, Selena, JB, Demi, HSM, and Vanessa/Zac aka Zanessa. That’s the main Disney C concerns while Cory in the House and Raven get nothing which is sad. It used to Hilary too she was Disney’s main effort but she left Disney. So i think that these ”Disney Princesses” need to breakout. Twilight is the best thing. I want Brenda as Leah because i think that she fits better.
Brenda for Leah, i love her movies and shows and i think that she is a better actress than Vanessa. And queen b said herself that she loves twilight.
umm i dont know, they all have franchises so it hard to be in different ones but as stepping out aas serious actors i choose brenda s
I must say, I find this annoying, because I really do like Vanessa for the role of Leah. I’m also sure she can give the character justice! Nonetheless, I prefer NONE of these girls be in the movie. I know Vanessa would be able to do it well, but its the whole disney fan thing that bothers me. Hard to explain. But between these two? Vanessa Hudgens.
I’m glad it’s all just rumors & that there is no confirmation at all that Vanessa even wants to do it. Not a fan of twilight in anyway, so it’d be better if they both stayed away.
brenda would be able to perform leah fantastically, she is elegant in real life, leah is more of a tomboy and brenda did pull of a tom boy role in 2002’s like mike, which made over 100 million. so i choose brenda, talented, unique talent, beauty, sober and very multi talented.
I am going for Brenda S. She has more experience in feature films like Twilight, she has the look for Leah, she has read all the books, she is friends with Nikki, she’s a Twilight fanatic, she has the sparkle of Leah. But she is known as a ”Disney starlet”, to breakout from that Twilight is perfect for her. Brenda rocks!!!!
Nikki, kids and teens everywhere else around the world love Brenda. Though HSM is a worldwide hit, Brenda is known worldwide too. Like i live in Kuwait, which is in the Middle East and many young girl here love Brenda. At school, i attent an american school for girls and all of the girl there are very influenced by HSM, Disney, JB, and on. Many many girls there know who she is and in French we were supposed to do a project on out idiols, I did Brenda, and many other girls did Brenda Song too. Nontheless, Vanessa has a fairly large fanbase over there too. So it’s like Disney Channel stars are known worldwide, once you are a disney star, you have international fame but this doesnt happen for the ”co-stars” and the ones who dont get any promotion.
IN 2007, Brenda did a Wendy Wu promo tour in all over Asia from Malaysia to Japan. She has a big Asian fanbase, and she also has a faily large European fanbase, i used to live in Scotland and many tweens over there recognized and adored her. Ofcourse Vanessa’s European fame is larger because in Europe HSM is big. Its fairly large in the UK, Spain, and France and then you have groups in the rest of Europe.
Brenda’s legions are mainly around Asia, she graced on the cover of Seventeen Magazine in Malaysia, but she does have a big European fanbase, she is fairly famous in the UK, and when i was in germany i saw a Brenda Song commercial on public tv for her Wendy Wu DVD release. According to Google, the third highest country that searches for is Germany. So yea its not like shes a nobody. Most Disney Channel stars have established international fame, and after Wendy Wu came out Brenda’s fame and fanbase grew and grew.
I really don’ see them in the role. Vanessa is too HSM and brenda could never look like a native americain (she’s asian). I would prefer to have megan Fox or Kristin Kreuk to play Leah’s role. I think it’s more realistic…

I think Brenda Song would play a better Leah than Vanessa.Leah is physically tough and Vanessa…not so much.Vanessa already has had her spotlight in High School Musical so its Brenda’s turn!!

I’d like to see baby V to play this role. She definately looks more like native American than Brenda S. If V plays the role, new moon would absolutely be a awful fantastic film, even better than Twilight.
