Vanessa Hudgens taps into her Wish Story
The holiday season is right around the corner, it’s my favorite time of the year! Time for the Christmas carols, themed movies, && the corny commercials that remind you times running out to buy those presents you keep putting off. This is not one of those corny commercials, though we are bias – non the less if you didn’t think you could love her more – think again. Watch this Sears Wish Story about Tita Gina and Greg, her father, gave Vanessa a gift that shaped her future, && some sage advice on gift-giving from the heart. It’s the little things that go a long way. Love her!

i agree with what you said adrienne, but i will also make a small addition to that. if vanessa has good management, it is also mostly their repsonsibility to be keeping their fingers on the pulse of what’s going on and finding roles for her to audition for that would be outside the norm for her. its not always that an actor gets noticed in a certain role that gets them roles in another movie, its that the actors management campaigns for that person to get the role and makes sure the casting director/producer/director sits up and takes notice.
my daughter’s bff is a young actor in vancouver and this is how it works for him. he is not approached for roles because of what he has been seen in. he is constantly being sent out for auditions by his agent because his agent is looking out for him. he doesn’t sit back and rest on the laurels of his previous accomplishments.
*nods* I’m really excited on what roles Vanessa is auditioning next. Vanessa has that certain look that will do well in different roles. Lately, I’ve been thinking that she’d do really well in a movie like ‘Girl Interrupted’.
And can I say I’m glad we’re discussing this instead of microscoping every details of her life and Zac?
I am glad to be reading this discussion. Its also going on the JJ thread – Melbourne topic. Van is only 19 (going on 20 next month) and she has already a lot of things going on for her. It must be an exciting time for her, having her own place and deciding which projects to pursue.

Getting audience recognition and being noticed by industry insiders are two entirely separate things. When I worked for NBC I saw actors who were pursued by the network for shows who I had never heard of (but someone saw them in a small movie of video or inthe past in an off off off Broadway (LOL) show and saw something and when a part became available nearly 2-3 years later remembered he or she and called them in for an audition.
Crystal:
In the case of “suits” backing an actor, you could have five suits trying to further your career and it still doesn’t guarantee anything. I saw actors NBC and VIsta were nuts about who went nowhere and actors who seem to come out of nowhere hit it big.
Yes, but look where it’s getting her. There are also many stars that have worked with big stars/directors in their earlier teens and nothing happened for them. And I don’t know the entertainment industry but from what I can see, the latest trend nowadays depends on how well a celeb can draw up an audience to the theater. So yes, I kind of agree with crystal. And it’d be nice if she could find ‘that’ particular role that would showcase her talents and stand on her own without the title ‘Zac Efron’s Girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens’. (Yes, there’s actually bloggers out there who have recognized her as her own, but the big bloggers have not. yet.)
well, i for one, will always have a love/hate thing with hollywood and its probably why i have such a huge appreciation for foreign films where i don’t often know any of the actors, or if i do, i have only seen them from time to time in small roles. while i am largely entertained by a few products of “hollywood” i still remain largely baffled why most actors find any kind of success. i won’t make a list because i’m not here to offend. i just don’t think any of us can sit back and make any predictions about who will have a successful career because there doesn’t seem to be a formula that makes sense.
chika,
I just read what you said about Vanessa (@ JJ) and I couldn’t agree with you more.
I always thought it was sexist of people that refer to Vanessa as “Zac’s girlfriend”. Vanessa is just as responsible for the success of High School Musical as anyone else in the cast. Plus, she’s proven herself as a performer and singer/recording star. Not to mention “Bandslam” in waiting and all the ads and commercails Vanessa has going. At 19, I think Vanessa has been pretty successful already.
RKV
I agree with you RKV. I noticed JJ has been doing that lately, hence I don’t visit his site unless someone points out that there’s something good there. I just think it’s very disrespectful. I’m glad GG isn’t following his trend since it seems like GG follows JJ’s example.
I’m glad others feel this way. I suppose, Vanessa will take all this stride and will continue to impress us all:) She’s a devoted and hard worker. I think she will mature and only get better as more opportunities open up for her.
I agree RKV, it has always annoyed me that they refer to her as that, which is why I also hate the term Zanessa. Whenever I hear either of them say it it makes me cringe. Although I love them together, they are both two amazing individuals, and should be treated as such.
V is an inspiration. I can honestly say that I admire her. She is so strong , brave and not to mention beautfiul. I can only wish that I had half her confidence when I was her age. She is so young, but yet she has the grace and poise of someone far beyond her years at times, and at others you can see the playful girl we all love. I was watching the old ‘Young hot hollywood’ the other day and to make them comparison to the lot on there, most of whom are 25+ to V, Zac and the rest of the cast was laughable. The reason why I love V and Zac is the fact that they are genuine, they don’t go crazy in public, they keep their lives and work seperate, they are just normal kids, and I truly admire them for that. As for her career, well she has had huge sucess for someone so young, and her work ethic astounds me. I know she isn’t going to be resting on her laurels, she will be working hard towards whatever part she wants to play next. I think Bandslam will be a stepping stone to peole seeing her as something besides Gabriella, I think she embodies whatever character she plays and that is a wonderful thing.
Zac also has that same ability and charisma. I have loved him since I saw him in Miracle Run. He was so so brilliant in that, and in HSM3 his acting blew me away, I think he really identified with Troy this time and it showed. I want him to move away from Disney now though. Me and Orson Welles is the one i’m looking forward to the most, I love the book its been a favourite of mine for a while, its so witty and charming and from what i’ve seen the premise is exactly the same, the lines from the book are used in the script. Zac is the perfect Richard as he is a bit dorky and arkward at times, but also strong willed and determined. I think Linklatter made a brilliant choice in casting Zac. I also think 17 again looks hilarious, and will showcase the fact that Zac is a really funny guy. I really can’t wait to see the both.
I do believe that they will go far. They are in it for the love of acting, and thats the best way to be. All the cast are so talented, each in their own way, they all have unique qualities and strengths that they can play too. They are so hardworking and they are a true testiment to the phrase ‘dreams can come true’, if you work hard for them that is, and thats what these kids do, they work hard and they will learn over time to perfect their craft. I’m sure they will make mistakes as nobody is perfect but I don’t feel that they have to prove anything. I think that is a dangerous game to play. The choices we make should be the ones we want to choose, not someone else, because that causes regret. I know they will do what is right for them, and I will support them both in whatever they decide to do next.
Sorry for the ramble lol.
