Has Vanessa traded in Detroit for Monterey, Mexico? Maybe, maybe not. But as far as we can tell and report to our readers here, she’ll be in Mexico in the beginning of September with Mandy Moore as her opening act.
El Norte Newspaper (as far as I can tell, because Spanish is not my first language) reported on August 6th that the former pop princess and the new pop princess will be performing together for a three date engagement at Arena Monterey. Here’s the article in Spanish:

Monterrey, México (6 agosto 2008).- Porque son buenas amigas, Mandy Moore será la estrella invitada para abrir tres de los conciertos que Vanessa Hudgens realizará en México, el próximo mes.
La famosa actriz y cantante fue confirmada ayer para estar en Monterrey, Guadalajara y la Ciudad de México, por parte de la empresa Main Event, que organiza los eventos.
Será el 9 de septiembre cuando Vanessa y Mandy actúen en la Arena Monterrey, en un concierto que tendrá capacidad para 7 mil personas.
“Ella es más o menos el perfil de Vanessa. Ha salido en pel�*culas de Disney y es una gran cantante; además, tiene un gran carisma y un público bastante importante y también le llega al público juvenil”, dijo Rafael Rodr�*guez, de Main Event, empresa organizadora del evento.
La también actriz de cintas como Licencia para Casarse y Salvados, entre otras, también abrió los conciertos que Kelly Clarkson hizo en Australia.
“Además de que ella es amiga personal de Vanessa, fue por recomendación de Vanessa”, aseguró Fernández.
“Nosotros estábamos buscando un abridor, hab�*a varias opciones, y por recomendación de la gente de ella, nos dieron el nombre de Mandy Moore”.
El empresario aclaró que se logró una cotización especial con la artista.
“Yo creo que, no sé, quizá por venir como amigas, por viajar a México y conocer, la negociación (con Mandy) fue bastante sencilla”, aseguró.
Por lo pronto, las chicas se presentarán el 9 de septiembre en Monterrey; el 12 en Guadalajara y el 13 en el Distrito Federal.
El concierto está programado para iniciar a las 19:30 horas.
“Lo importante en México de Mandy han sido sus pel�*culas y su canción ‘Only Hope’ tuvo mucho éxito”, añadió Rodr�*guez.
Aunque son cuatro las fechas que hará Vanessa en México, sólo en Puebla no actuarán las dos cantantes.

The actress (Moore) has also preformed with others, including opening concerts for Kelly Clarkson in Australia.
“Besides that, she’s a close personal friend of Vanessa’s and was recommended by her,” said Fernandez
“We were looking for someone to open. We had various options and by the recommendation of people with (Vanessa,) we were give the name of Mandy Moore.”
The employer clarified that it achieved a special contribution to the artist.
“I believe that, no I know, that when it came to the friends traveling to Mexico and learning, the negotiations with Mandy were quite simple.” He said.
For the time being, the girls will perform on the September 9 in Monterrey, the 12th in Guadalajara and the 13th in Mexico City (Federal District)
The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
“Mandy has been important in Mexico and her song Only Hope was very successful” says Rodriguez.
Although Vanessa will be in Mexico for four days, the only place that will not feature both singers is Peubla.
Not sure how Vanessa and Mandy are even friends, apart from Vanessa wearing a dress from MBlem, Mandy Moore’s clothing line to Palm Springs earlier this year. Vanessa and Mandy are set to perform on September 9th in Monterey, September 12th in Guadalajara and on September 13th in Mexico D.F.
I’m still a little skeptical on the dates myself, but, since the tickets are already on sale, we’re bringing it to you here.
