looking for a few good lawyers
Here’s another entry of our guest VABN blogger, Kat (or as we call her in Fanforum: awesome!Kat). We figured it was best to have someone who actually read a couple of law books to blog on the newest legal woes for Vanessa Hudgens
V’s legal team seems like they have a lot to answer for. This is the second time in the span of one year that a lawsuit has been filed against her.
High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens has been sued for $5 million by her former producer who claims she breached a settlement agreement.
In the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit filed Monday, Johnny Vieira alleges Hudgens fired him shortly after the success of “Musical,” but later negotiated a settlement with him. However, Hudgens’ attorneys failed to file the settlement agreement with the court for approval.
Vieira claims his original contract with Hudgens, dating back to July 5, 2005, is still in force and that she and her label, Hollywood Records, owe him for royalties since then.
Now, lemme start by saying that I know nothing about California Laws as I am just a poor lowly law student halfway across the globe so take my opinions with a grain of salt (and follow it up with a shot of tequila and a wedge of lemon
) And I’ll try and summarize it and “simplify” it. Although, if you guys suffer from insomnia, I suggest that you read the copy of the complaint and it’s a guaranteed snooze fest.
Okay, from what I can gather, V and this Johnny Vierra entered into a Production Agreement in May 2005, months before she even filmed HSM. Soon after HSM became a success, Vanessa apparently decided to drop the services of Mr. Vierra but since the Production Agreement was court-approved, Mr. Vierra’s services were not discharged. Instead, they entered into a Settlement Agreement. Now in most cases, in order for a Settlement Agreement to be valid, it needs to be approved by court. And herein lies V’s dilemma. It seemed that her lawyers failed to file the said Agreement for court’s approval. So now, Mr. Vierra is alleging that since the Settlement Agreement was not approved, then it means that their original Production Agreement remains full in force hence, V and her team owes him money.
And yes, I know. It’s still a bit confusing right? It’s kinda like, Vanessa and Johnny entered into Contract A (Production Agreement). But Vanessa wants to dump Johnny’s services but she cant do that so they enter into Contract B (Settlement Agreement) which in effect terminates Contract A. Now because Contract B was not approved by Court since V’s lawyers didn’t file it, Johnny is saying that Contract B doesnt exist, then Contract A still remains.
Okay, thats the best explanation I can do. I’m sorry if instead of making it clear, I made it more confusing. I have that effect on people
Now, who else thinks that V needs to hire a new legal team? And Vanessa, sweetie, when you need a new lawyer, I’ll be the one standing on the corner with a cardboard sign around her neck that reads “Will Lawyer for Bags and Shoes”

4 Albums seem to be the norm. Hilary had a 4 Album Deal with them and V signed this deal when she was 16 and HR were actually giving her promo and seemed like they cared.
Vanessa didn’t know at the time. So, please DON’t call her dumb.
Thank you:)
And Hillary Duff announced a week or two ago that she is parting ways with Hollywood Records because they spend all their resources on promoting a select few and not her. Don’t remember her exact statement.
