An evening with Corbin and Vanessa

Kelly (Time4Love @ Fanforum) went to the Wisconsin concerts of Corbin Bleu and Vanessa Hudgens’ last night. Here’s here take on what she calls the “best concert”. Make sure to check out her YT channel to see her videos from the concert.

If you’re looking for a high energy, lung killing, dance concert, I have two words for you. Vanessa Hudgens.

I went to the Vanessa Hudgens and Corbin Bleu concert on August 5, 2008 with one of my friends. Needless to say, it was the best concert I have ever experienced. Corbin Bleu opened, and although it was still light out so he couldn’t use light effects, it was incredible just the same. I knew exactly why he had been picked for High School Musical after he had been on stage for three minutes. His dancing was sensational, even though Disney may not have been too happy with some of his moves. But we all loved it. He was with two other girls and two guys who came on stage with him in biker clothes.

After a few dance songs including “Deal With It”, he slowed it down to make a phone call to a lucky member of the audience, and brought her up on stage. He sang to her, took her out on a “date”, danced with her, took and autographed a picture with her. I would have killed to have been her. She looked so insanely happy, which she should be! One of the best songs he played was “Mixed Up”, and then his closing “Push It to the Limit”. It was set to the boxing theme from Jump In! Corbin definitely delivered, and made me see him in a whole new light.

Then, after a short break, it was what we had all been waiting for. The lights started flashing and Vanessa’s voice could be heard. She explained how she’s grown up, not in high school anymore, and she’s not a little girl. It talked about her friendships, relationships, and just the fact that she is not a girl, she is a woman and is capable of making her own decisions, whether other people are happy about them or not.

Everything was just incredible from there. Opening with “Sneakernight”, you could practically see the energy from her body radiating off of the stage. For someone who performed in Minnesota that morning, no one would have been able to tell. And the fans loved it. I was among the thousands who were screaming for her, with each note that had been played. After performing it with intensity, she told us “Identified” would be her next single and asked us for our take on it. We all screamed in approval, with the trademark Vanessa giggles filling the audience. Everyone was on their feet and sweating with her during “Let’s Dance”, which you could tell was one of her favorites. “First Bad Habit”, “Hook It Up”, “Never Underestimate a Girl” and “Amazed” were just a few that also had everyone screaming for more, dancing as though they were on stage with her, having the time of her life.

Along with the dancing, she showed her vulnerable side when she slowed it down to have a mind blowing performance of “Say Ok”. Her eyes seemed to sparkle with delight, and maybe even a thought of certain costar love, as you could tell that song meant something more to her. “Don’t Ask Why” could also be felt in the heart. But none could compare to the way her eyes glossed over as she sung the last part of “Gotta Go My Own Way” with Zac Efron’s voice echoing through the speakers. She had a look of longing, a look of love, which can only be seen on Vanessa Hudgen’s face when someone brings up Zac’s name. Something about her skin seemed to glow with a passion that couldn’t be taken away. The fans loved it, screaming the lyrics to the song that meant more to both the fans and Vanessa herself.

Even after her closing song, “Come Back to Me”, we were all screaming until our lungs ripped. Unfortunately, there was not encore, but who could blame her for performing in two shows in one day? My friend and I attempted to go back stage to get a picture with her, but after seeing her talking to her dancers, a security guard told us we needed to leave and Vanessa was already in her dressing room.

But it didn’t matter, because our memories are in our hearts, from the best concert I have ever been to.

thanks for sharing your experience with us, Kelly!
