the “Identified” countdown: afterglow

critically acclaimed and selling like hotcakes…whaaat?”

It’s too early to say how Identified did in terms of sales. At least from our perspective - I think Hollywood Records might have an idea though.

We’ve been hearing stories of stores either selling out or running low on their supply of the album. As much as I’d like to think it’s flying off the self, logic tells me it all boils down to undershipment. One of the stores I visited yesterday had about 5 display racks for a hip-hop group to Vanessa’s 1. So whoever decided on the number of copies to ship to retailers, obviously did not anticipate the reception. Unfortunately, this could mean how well this album charts will depend greatly on the number shipped initially.

But no one can deny the fact that the album is selling - not even the immature comments left in ITunes can deter buyers from downloading the album. Here’s are the current stats gathered together by Tim of Fanforum:

“Identified” the song has now passed “Sneakernight” on iTunes top pop songs.

“Identified” is #26 (#104 overall)
“Sneakernight” is #36

“Sneakernight” has fallen out of the overall iTunes chart but thats only because they removed the single version which they always do once an album is released.
“Sneakernight” should climb back up once people start downloading the album version.

Also the album is still #10 overal l& #2 on pop.

“Sneakernight” climbed 31 spots on Billboard’s Hot Digital songs this week:

125 94 Hudgens*vanessa Sneakernight 16718 51 11049 43846

“Sneakernight” was downloaded 16,718 times this week which brings it’s overall total downloads since it was released on May 20th to 43,846.

Let’s hope the album and single hasn’t reached it’s peak yet. Also, noticed that the buying public has so far picked the second single in “Identified” (”Amazed” is up there too).

On the critics side of things - legitimate critics has given it a great rating. Metacritic - which caculates an overall score from reviews of albums, movies, books, etc. - has given it a 65 - a general favorable review (and dare I say it - “critically acclaimed”). You can check out Metacritic’s site to find out what and how they came up with the rating but basically:

If the score is 39 or below it got mostly negavtive reviews.
If the score is 40-60 the album got mixed or average reviews.
And if the score is 61 or higher it got generally favorable reviews.

So the kiddies who have left their “two thumbs down” critique because their “ears started to bleed” while listening to the album can go back to their summer reading (or whatever they have to do this summer) - the professionals have spoken. Thanks for wasting your time.
