the “Identified” countdown: 2 days

Posted on June 29, 2008 | Category: VABN topics, Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa HudgensNothing in terms of album update today. I’m going to say this is the calm before the storm. Yes, I’m so trying hard to stay positive.

I have heard some rumors that some stores in Virginia have actually started selling the album. I don’t know how that affects the numbers for the first week sales (if it’s included or not). We’ll find out in about a week. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on my copy.

Sears’ ArriveLounge is showing more pictures from the campaign and behind-the-scenes from the photoshoot. You can check them out over the ArriveLounge site or over at the VABN gallery - they are here and here

The AllMusic review is fairly good. They pretty much say the same thing as the NYT review aays(even better, imo). The album is surprisingly full of good songs but Vanessa is still starting out and needs to keep maturing as a vocalist but shows true promise:) That’s basically what AllMusic says.

I think some of these critics still have a bias against Vanessa being associated with Disney. But, she’ll gradually get past that as she gets older and stronger.

I’m glad the album is getting some good stuff said about it by so many critics. We should be quite pleased with that and with Vanesssa:)

Good points, Bee. Overall, the review was good and promising. But, I still didn’t like the fact they didn’t give Vanessa’s voice enough credit.

Is this the last day of the Ali’s Blog voting? Vanessa is running away with it as of this morning. But, we should still vote:)

well of course compared to Christina, she really can’t compare vocally - Christina is like the Aretha Franklin of our generation, that woman is a powerhouse..

in a few years, V will get there vocally.. she’s getting better && voice is maturing.. she’ll get there..

yea but you can’t play to just the downsides that they wrote about.. overall for the ALBUM it’s a fairly decent review..

of course we’re going to disagree - i thoroughly disagree with him calling her voice thin && the album being overproduced, but that’s the way the album was cut - && we’ve heard her outside of the studio, i know she can sing.. they’re just basing it on what they’ve heard strictly from the album.. && from an overall album viewpoint, it’s not bad..

the fact that the NY Times even chose to review it is pretty good
&& aside from that, the fact that he said, “it’s mostly a glimmer of where she might go.” speaks volumes of what they truly think of her as an artist ;)

I didn’t really think the New york times review was that good? they called her voice thin, overproduced, and made comparisons to Christina Aguilera saying she fizzled. :(

That New York Times review isn’t too flattering. And, I the claim about her first album and her voice is totally off the mark. Very strange review.
