Selena Gomez: on the rise

Posted on June 15, 2008 | Category: Selena Gomez, VABN topics

Selena GomezShe’s not exactly unknown what with her solid following through her hit series Wizards of Weaverly Place on the Disney Channel and Youtube vlog with bff Demi Lovato.

But Selena Gomez is new to anyone who doesn’t really pay too much attention to anything Disney. She is probably just another child star to most people. But her handlers at Disney are making sure that is not going to be the case soon. Not only is she starring in an upcoming DCOM (with aforementioned bff Demi), Princess Protection Program - they are also making sure she is seen in events that matters specially those to her target fanbase. Just this weekend, she attended the premiere of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and of course made an appearance in the Disney-sponsored event, “A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival” earlier this month.

She is no doubt going to be a big star. Still not sure if they are trying to groom her as the antithesis to Miley Cyrus or someone to take over the throne though. We’ll see what follows the “purity ring” story, in the coming months.

I just hope her rise will not be too fast. I like this beatiful girl; I wouldn’t want to see her crash.

well said. selena is one i would worry about if she got too big too fast, but who knows?

and i don’t think there’s any need to compare her to miley. miley hasn’t crashed yet; she’s just had some mishaps, which have not ruined her career. she is still handling fame very well. her parents know what they’re doing (her mom even uses beyonce as a role model, and takes her on vacation when things get too hectic), so i don’t think miley can be used as an example of a celebrity who has crashed.
