Get ready for an all Camp Rock Weekend starting on June 20th, when the world premiere of the newest DCOM to start taking over hits televisions in the United States. But that’s not all! Can you believe that the hype has gotten so big and Disney Channel is really banking on this film that it really is a Camp Rock weekend - on all of the ABC Stations?! Seriously, they are, take a look -
ETA: Closing comments. This was meant to be a guide of what’s ahead for the ones who wanted to know. Not a post to bash the Jonas Brothers or Demi Lovato.
>
But before we get to that star-studded and special weekend, let’s backtrack and find out what else you’ll be seeing.
Camp Rock tells the rock n’ roll Cinderella story of Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), a teen with an amazing voice and a driving ambition to be a pop singer who wants to spend her summer at a prestigious rock camp. Unfortunately, an expensive music camp is a bit out of reach for her family, but her mother gets a job as Camp Rock’s cook so that Mitchie can attend as long as she helps out in the kitchen between classes. Befriended by fellow camp member Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner) but intimidated by the immensely talented Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) and her friends Peggy (Jasmine Richards) and Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle), Mitchie lives a double life hiding that she is the cook’s daughter and posing as a well-to-do camper in order to become part of the hottest clique at camp. When she’s overheard singing, but not seen, by teen pop star and celebrity camp instructor, plus lead singer of Connect Three, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), he is completely taken and sets out to find the girl behind the beautiful voice. Meanwhile, Mitchie will have to learn how to confront her fears, step out of the kitchen and into the spotlight as herself.
And the event schedule, go & set your TiVo’s now:
Speaking of TV Guide….

Who else wants to see one with all the girls now too? *Raises hand*
Remember to pre-order/Order the Products and if you want even more to choose from click here.

I know I’ve taken the TV hostage from my mom on Friday, the Saturday and Sunday may be pushing it though, so yea, I will be watching. Anyone want to have another live blog like we did for Vanessa Hudgens’ Radio Disney Interview? Let me know here
Also, I will be expecting nothing less from Disney when The Cheetah Girls: One World comes around. But we’ll probably get less. At least I have the Roads.

THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE IN IT LIKE IT OR NOT. HSM IS GREAT BUT YOU HAVE TO MOVE ON. HSM GOT IT’S FAME, NOW LET THE SPOTLIGHT HIT SOMEONE ELSE!! I’M SICK OF PEOPLE BRINGIN’ HSM INTO CAMP ROCK STUFF, THE POST IS ABOUT CAMP ROCK. YOU CAN SAY -
*”oh I won’t watch this movie, I’m sick of watching the JoBros everywhere”
*”I’ll so watch this movie! love Demi and the JoBros!”
*”I’ll stay in my room watching HSM videos ’til i’m tired”
Just SHUT UP! i’m sick of people COMPARING!
JUST WATCH THE MOVIE - IT WILL ONLY TAKE YOU 1 OR 2 HOURS TO SAY IF YOU LIKED IT OR NOT!
Just b/c of the fact that the JoBros are in it, it does NOT mean that is gonna be an HORRIBLE movie, I AM happy about this movie, Demi has a really great talent and I luv the Camp Rock Girls, and the Dance parts, I’l sure it will have great succsses (succsess?)
and after watchin’ the movie now you can come and say “it was cool” or “it sucked” until then, just think it will be okay.
XOXO

Oh, and sorry for the double post, but like a few of you, I too cringe badly when I see anything for Camp Rock. For those of us who aren’t obsessed with it, it’s going to be a loooong year.

Not looking forward to this.
Like I said, I don’t like the JBros or Demi — or the fact Disney is so enthused to make a new ‘HSM’ so fast.
(Not hating. Just don’t like ‘em.)

oh that’s ok…
i mean being probably a really big fan of ashley, i love her and everything but she can’t sing ( well )… maybe it just because I don’t like her type of voice but you know what I mean.. hehe
as for vanessa, i don’t like her. but yet, i always seems excited to see news about Zanessa which is weird… lol

Din, Vanessa has a different voice in comparison, so there is no comparison here. And Zac and Ashley can sing. I have to disagree with you here.

Saw a bit of the preview and I honestly have to say the girls are better actors than the Jonas Boys, maybe because of their inexperience. I found their acting a bit stilted. However, they are cute and wish them all the best. They perhaps could do with more acting lessons. Their music should fare well.
I saw a bit of Jump and Corbin sure can move and he has nice features but I didn’t like his acting here.Somehow, preferred him in HSM. I must be prejudiced, i guess. Would love to see him in more serious roles.

just an opinion here so please no angry comments toward me.. hehe
anyway, for me camp rock is winning with the VOICE content because 60 percent of the cast actually singers even before casted in it…
while in hsm, sorry but I actually think none of them can sing except Lucas…
well ok they can sing but not as good as lucas.
I mean vanessa’s couldn’t be better than demi’s. just for example.

i used to be a bit bitter about this whole movie in general but now i don’t care. Inevitably, it will break hsm2’s record but ive decided it doesn’t matter (though i still will not contribute at all to the ratings).

you know this doesn’t compare to ‘high school musical’ at all. it’s belittling to ‘high school musical’ if you are going to compare it with viewership that ‘camp rock’ is going obtain.
with high school musical they were surprised at what it became (and is still managing to become and achieve).
whereas with ‘camp rock’ they are going to surprised if it turns out the way they had expected high school musical to (with low ratings and the jonas brothers never being cast in anything pertaining to disney again).
you cannot compare these two ratings wise;
with the promotion ‘high school musical’ got and the promotional efforts ‘camp rock’ is getting.
there is no comparison;
the jonas brothers are stars in their own rights. the ‘high school musical’ cast where (and they probably even still consider themselves to be) nobodies.
high school musical was the surprise hit; camp rock is the known hit.
whereas if you’re going to compare anything - make it the plot details, story line (and musical score) - they are both musical movies and there may (and probably will) be similarities.
just don’t judge the movie by how many viewers it pulls in on the first showing.
watch ‘camp rock’ and make your own judgement(s) about it.

With the original HSM casts not coming back to continue filming HSM4, HSM5, etc…and Disney doesn’t really know that the new casts for HSM4 will make it as successful as the original casts did for the HSM1, HSM2, and soon to be HSM3. I think Camp Rock is more like a back-up success that will carry forward to Camp Rock 2, Camp Rock 3, etc. Of course, if both HSM4 and Camp Rock turn out successful means more money to Disney.
Disney wants to continue making these type of franchise such as Cheetah Girls 1, Cheetah Girls 2, Cheetah Girls 3, Twitches 1, Twitches 2, Halloweentown 1, Halloweentown 2, and Halloweentown 3. HSM was suppose to continue growing to HSM6 or more, and filming with the same casts and characters. However, Zac and Vanessa wants to move on to other movie projects for more mature adult audiences. After that…the rest of the casts felt the same way.
I think Camp Rock will be good to watch. Camp Rock’s two songs that I heard on Radio Disney, sounded very catchy.

Well, I love both (even that I hadn’t seen Camp Rock yet). In my humble opinion I don’t want them to get compared, yes they have music and teens singing and the love story, but they’re still kind of different, I look at them as siblings :P, HSM is near its end, and it’s going to be awesome in the big screen. And Camp Rock is the new thing, for me is the one it’s going to take the place of HSM now that finish. Personally, I’m hoping for Camp Rock to be unbelievable succesful, so Disney focus on this new franchise, and drop the terrible idea of HSM 4

I love Zac, Vanessa and the rest of the wildcats, and as much as I love HSM, now that HSM3 is coming, I want them to enjoy that succesful and then move on away from Disney, they deserve now other things. And let’s receive the new generation of Disney stars that are incredibly awesome too.
We cannot expect HSM to rule the teen and kids world forever
So I can’t wait for Camp Rock!!!

omg thank god! i thougt i was the only one! i hate the jb (no offense) but disney channel is pushing it like every commercial is for camp rock, and they are already popular so ppl will watch it if they like the jobros, but hsm (like ppl said) had an unknown cast and was the first dcom to be a phenomenon and every time i open a flippin mag its all about the jonas bros who can’t sing (they sound like they whine) and aren’nt cute or hot (they are actually kinda ugly and have really bushy eyebrows) and they can’t act! at least hsm ppl have real talent and are moving on in live and will be successful

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! i love the JoBros!!!!..i cant wait!!.thanks for sharing the info
be sure to watch!

What’s to like about a boy band who straightens their hair and wears skinny jeans?
I /do/ see why people like them though.
They’re just not for me.
And IMO Disney’s really pushing it with the JB. “Camp Rock” isn’t going to be anything new. It’s baisically going to be the same as any other DCOM but with different stars.
Camp Rock may knock HSM2 out of the #2 spot, but I don’t think people will be interested in it for very long. HSM is still going…
June 11th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
camp rock doesn’t compare to Hsm franchise. for one the jonas bros. already have an established fanbase, and they are well-known whereas no one knew who the kids were on HSM and everyone just caught on
June 11th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
I don’t like the Jonas Brothers so i wont be watching Camp Rock, I love HSM because of Zanessa and the rest of the cast, I dont think any other disney cast can compare to the chemisty HSM 1 and 2 have for me.
