No. 55 Most Influencial: Heartthrobs

Saturday, 10 May 2008

It’s a love-hate thing for me when any of our Wildcats makes it on a list created by “grown-ups”. Most often than not, the inclusion appears to be just an afterthought. As in they were included because well, it would be denying the fact that the copyrighter was probably singing the lines of “Getcha head in the game” while working on the issue; or that in the last company Halloween party, daughters of many of the employees were most likely dressed as Gabriella or Sharpay.

For me, “forced” inclusion often leads to a begrudged or uneducated sounding caption/story or poorly written. Either that or they think they are way smarter than their readers.

But yeah, the cast of High School Musical made to the 2008 Time Magazine’s Most Influencial issue at #55.

And yes Time Magazine – they are worthy! Maybe even higher on that list than you think.

Go Wildcats!

  1. Wow she got pregnent fast considering she had not seen Zac for like 3 months and they have only been back together for about 3 or 4 weeks. HAHAHA I dont even think you would know you were pregnent at this point. Lets look at the facts please before we start spreading stupid rumors that can lead to out of control crazyness!!!

I am glad they made the Time list but I had that they brought up the V thing>

  2. i don’t think its true.. i’m just going to wait for zac and vanessa’s announcement if its true then i will believe them

  3. I understand what Chay means about the Wildcat’s inclusion on this list seems like an afterthought but still it’s nice that they can see that “HSM” isn’t just some fluffy Disney channel movie but a genuine pop culture phenomanon. Although I’m sure it made some of them grit their teeth.

As far as the picture thing goes, I agree there was no reason to bring it up. But the fact of the matter is that it’s always going to be with Vanessa as much as we wish it wouldn’t. Look at Vanessa Williams she has won grammys been nomiated for a Tony and an Emmy, and on this year’s Barbara Walters Oscar special she was talking about her scandal of over twenty years ago. Sadly the media doesn’t forget. But I think our girl can handle it.
