Youth Traffic Safety Month and Meeting (yes!) Lucas

It is great when something unexpected happens and today was that day for me! I had the privilege of not only attending this event (thanks, to Jill for the tip) but also meeting Lucas which included shaking his hand, getting my picture taken with him and him signing a picture for my kids! Needless to say, he was gracious, fun and just a nice guy. Wow! Of course, I came up with about 50 questions to ask him after the event including where did he get those shoes? I just didn’t expect to have this opportunity!!!
On the stairs of City Hall in Salt Lake, the mayor, Ralph Becker, proclaimed May to be Youth Traffic Safety Month. Lucas is the National Youth Traffic Safety Month spokesperson and attended the event. Lucas also was on several local news channels this morning talking about the event and the importance of this cause. The message for this month is very serious as May and the summer months bring an increase in teen driving activity with proms, graduation, parties, and summer jobs–and car accidents are the #1 killer for teens ages 16-19! An East High School student, 17-year-old Lauren Mulkey, was killed in 2007 when her car was hit by a teen driver who was text messaging while driving. So, please, to echo the words of Lauren’s mom, Linda who also spoke at the event, turn off your cell phones while driving! It can wait!

Jenni- The pictures of her yelling are old and according to Jared himself the phone call had nothing to do with him and Ashley and they are still together. On April 6th Jared actually posted YouTube bulletin stating they are still together:

My guess is when Nicky answered those questions its just easier to say yes everyone is single instead of going well everyone execpt Jared bc he is dating Ashley. Anyways, we have seen Ashley wearing her J necklace around during rehearsal’s so I am assuming they are still together if the J stands for what we all think it stands for!

That is a nice story. Glad everything went well and for a good cause. I like Lucas. He was especially fantastic in HSM2. I hope Ryan and Gabriella extend their friendship in HSM3.
