Did someone say endorsement?

Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Remember that endorsement that we had talked about a while ago? Well, it’s here! And it’s Vanessa’s!

Fans of Disney’s “High School Musical” phenomenon, take note: Sources report one of its stars, Vanessa Hudgens, may wind up in a back-to-school ad campaign for Hoffman Estates-based Sears, which is looking for all the help it can get to boost sales. Young & Rubicam/Chicago is the retailing behemoth’s agency of record.

So, I guess this means that I’ll be buying clothes that I don’t fit in just because Vanessa endorsed them. Oh well :D Congrats to Vanessa!

  1. i’m glad she got the campaign, i hope she gets more bigger ones in the future. the Neutrogena endorsement was a huuuuge deal and the fact that they chose her made me happy. they usually choose the rising teen stars and she got it! mischa barton and hayden panattiere were also chosen when they were popular. SO does anyone know if she is still endorsing Ecko red?? and will she do the photoshoot

  2. Wonder if she’s going to be a spokesperson for the Land’s End clothing line. Doesn’t Sears own that? I know they do carry the Land’s End clothing, which I love. That would be cool.

  3. congrats to vanessa ..thats so cool

  4. does she even wear their clothes? she’ll make them look so fashionable…iswear i`ll probably start wearing sears clothes.LOL

  5. Awesome news!

  6. This is awesome!
    Thanks!

  7. I am so happy for Vanessa:) And, yes! This is a big deal:)

  8. for the people who are saying that sears really isn’t a big deal, you guys just chill. First it starts off with something like sears and then next thing you know, Vanessa will have something bigger.

I’m really happy for Vanessa. She’s becoming more famous every day, and she really deseves to.

  9. Sears Roebuk &CO has been around for YEARS!!!! and yes it is more known for Craftsman tools, but for a while they have been trying to exband it’s reputation. So it’s a compliment that they chose Lady Vanessa to bring in a more diverse group of peeps to the store.

  10. what constitute “big” to people these days? the money the endorser get? the exposure? the amount of money that will be spent on the campaign? product/brand recognition? what?

I mean Donald Trump is hawking ties for Macy’s…Martha Stewart gain even more popularity (and made “ordinary” housewives less intimidated of her) when she was hawking products for KMart…

  11. C’mon all promotion is important!

  12. ita chay.
a lot of people are so quick to denounce everything, which is sad considering they’re suppose to be “fans” and “supporters”

  13. Sears have helped a lot of families in Extreme Home Makeover, and that means that they’ve don e a lot of good and donating a lot, and I’m not American but any company willing to do that is a good one.
I like the idea, and like someone said, it’s a start and it’s not a bad start in any way. I think that this is going to be great, both for Vanessa and for Sears.

  14. Try to request the song sneakernight by e mailing this -

It is the top morning show in New York.

  15. Well, if she’s going to be a spokesperson for Sears, that means her face will be in every store throughout the US and Canada. Don’t know if they still have stores in Europe. But having her face in that many stores will certainly garner some new and more mature fans. And we don’t yet know what exactly she will be a spokesperson for–maybe it’s just SHOP SEARS.

Another interesting point, the ad agency (Young & Rubicam/Chicago) handling the deal is nothing to sneeze at:

So can we say that Lady Vanessa is going to be getting some big bucks for this deal?

  16. i think this is a good start cuz u have to start somewhere
and i think she is still a spokesperson for Ecko Red, they said she is doing the summer of 2008.
    CONGRADULATIONS VANESSA!!!
