American Mall: HSM for 18-25 year olds?
So it seems that Utah has become the official State of the musical. As Jill wrote back in December, MTV has gotten in the game and just finished filming American Mall in Provo, Utah (45 minutes south of Salt Lake City) on February 26. To ensure its success, this one was also led by the HSM producers (Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush) AND choreographer Bonnie Story. In addition, you’ll also see some familiar dancers, e.g., Shawn Carter and Ray Malaga during the dozen musical numbers.
It is supposed to be edgier than HSM, aimed at the 18-25 year old demographic and will even have a PG-rating–if only we could talk Disney into that for HSM3! So we’ll have to look forward to American Mall instead with its similar–Troy-Gabriella-Sharpay triangle. It is scheduled to be aired on MTV in August. Hmmm…think there’ll be an AM2?
