Hollywood Records Partners With Zinio to Release New Albums With CDVU+ Technology

CDVU+ replaces the traditional CD booklet/jewel case, while still offering an unprecedented amount of content.With CDVU+ fans will be offered an easy-to-navigate digital magazine format that includes:
– A rich-media magazine offering exclusive content that is printable and can be downloaded and then accessed both on and offline. — Song lyrics, different video segments with the band, behind the scenes footage. — Printable photos of the band. — Customizable autographed poster creator where fans can upload their own image into different band scenarios. — Special hidden links to exclusive content only available via CDVU+. — CDVU+ is eco-friendly: 100% recycled material (35% post-consumer).
“We are making the CD exciting again and based on the success of the last Jonas Brothers album containing CDVU+ technology, we will continue to provide fans a closer interaction with their favorite bands,” said Ken Bunt, senior vice president of marketing, Hollywood Records. “Customer feedback was fantastic and we are excited to expand the CDVU+ format to more titles in 2008.”
A recent survey was conducted by Hollywood Records of approximately 40,000 CDVU+ album customers. When asked to rate the experience on a scale from one to ten, 95 percent of respondents gave it a seven or higher, with 65 percent rating it a ten. When asked if they would like to see more titles in CDVU+, 95 percent of respondents stated a resounding, “yes.”
“Audiences are becoming increasingly connected and accustomed to digital and interactive lifestyles,” said Rich Maggiotto, CEO, Zinio. “Hollywood Records is taking the CD to the next level with CDVU+ technology and offering the best of both online and offline to its customers. Zinio is thrilled to help provide a product tailored specifically to this growing digital audience.”
In 2008, Hollywood Records plans to expand the CDVU+ technology to additional titles. To continue providing fans the most exciting and interactive music experience, new albums with CDVU+ will include Disney Music Group’s Atreyu, Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney, and Vanessa Hudgens.
